Broadway Market

During the week, Broadway Market has a quaint village feel, packed with fantastic restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. However, it’s on a Saturday that this road really comes to life, as the market becomes the real star. Stretching all the way down the street, this food-lover’s market is as much about seeking out quality food as it is about soaking up the relaxed atmosphere – with a freshly grilled burger in one hand and a chilled ice coffee in the other.
Stalls range from delicious desserts with a twist on the classics, including the Meringue Girls and Crosstown Doughnuts, to the katsu chicken wraps and unbelievably good tuna burgers from the guys at Fish & Flounder. If the sun is shining, a stop at Nonna’s cycle kart for some homemade gelato is a must. Spices, cheeses, breads, rare-breed meat, handmade pasta and olives are all present – it's hard to imagine the need to go anywhere else for your weekly food shop. The only issue you have is trying to figure out what to eat and from where.

Broadway Market, open every Saturday 10am–4pm | London E8 4QJ

Pavilion

If you’ve ever been to Victoria Park for a dog walk then you’ll have seen the pleasant café that sits on the water’s edge, which is part of a lovely family of cafes around East London, popular for their artisan bread, pastries, fresh coffee and food alike. While we love the Victoria Park outpost, we tend to go to their original location on Broadway Market, when out with the dogs. In addition to enjoying their drinks and menu offering, we sometimes like to treat ourselves to one of their lovely store cupboard supplies such as seasonal jams and peanut butters.

Pavilion is open from 7am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday at 18 Broadway Market, E8 4QJ.

La Bouche

Treat your tastebuds with cheeses, wine, baked goods, fresh ground quality coffee, continental and British fine food classics and more from this deli and café, which has been serving East London since 2004. Whether you are after items for an at-home weekend feast or want to watch the world go by from the pavement seating, do it in the knowledge that the dog can join you too!

Open daily from 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sundays. Find La Bouche at 35-37 Broadway Market, Hackney E8 4PH.

Cat & Mutton

Work up an appetite and clear the Saturday night / morning after cobwebs with a leisurely walk around the park with your four-legged friend before heading to this fun, neighbourhood pub for Bloody Marys, brunch or a hearty Sunday roast. Despite having a dog’s nemesis in their name, the Cat & Mutton truly digs dogs, so much so that if you patronise their venue with your dog and tag their visit to your social posts, you’ll receive 10% off your bill. It would be rude not too!

Netil Market

Netil Market is a creative community of designer-makers and food. During the week, the atmosphere is relaxed with the permanent residents’ stores and workshops being open and ready to welcome customers. At the weekend, the place comes alive with the space filling up with market stalls showcasing the best of local independent designers and vintage finds, as well as the addition of renowned street food traders. It’s the perfect spot to come and spend a Saturday afternoon.

Netil Market, open every Saturday 11am–6pm| 13–23 Westgate Street, London E8 3RL
