DOG FRIENDLY EASTER TREAT HUNT

This game can help to keep your dog's focus on you, and it will also allow you to lead your dog away from distractions. Your dog will have to mentally stay on their toes for this treasure hunt game.

When walking with your dog, occasionally drop treats on the ground in your immediate area while your dog is distracted and then stop and ask them to ‘find it’. Finding the treats is a big reward for them and you are enhancing their natural sense of smell, which stimulates their mind. Sniffing also helps give your dog a mood boost, doubling the impact of searching for hidden food!

Carrot & Apple Easter Muffins

Ingredients

1 Cup of Flour (we use rice flour)
1 Cup of Rolled Oats 
2 Eggs
2 tlbs of Cinnamon
¼ Molasses
1 Bramley Apple (quartered and stalk removed)
1 Large Chopped Carrot

* If your dog has an allergy to oats these can be replaced for more flour

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper.

Mix the flour, oats and cinnamon together in a bowl until well combined.

Place the apple, carrot and molasses into a blender with the ½ cup of water and blend until liquid. If you don't have a blender the carrot and apple can be grated and then mix in the molasses.

Pour the apple and carrot liquid into the flour and oat mixture and mix until combined. Once combined stir in the whisked eggs.

The mixture needs to firm and easy to scoop but not to wet (if the mixture is to wet then add a little more water and if it is to wet add a little more rice flour).

Using a teaspoon scoop the mixture onto the lined baking tray and bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until firm and golden

Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool.

Please make sure the treats are completely cool before giving to your dog!
