Kindred Tales | Caroline & Frida | Growlees
Growlees was conceived by Australia-based design-hound Caroline, to help her dog muse Frida and her canine friends express their unique and special personalities.
The result is a range of playful charms designed to be worn by both dog and dog-parents alike. Following the success of Growlees charms, Caroline collaborated with French illustrator, Walter Glassof to design a collection of statement t-shirts based on the most popular styles in the collar charm collection.
Tell us a bit about Growlees and how it all started
Growlees was inspired by daughter-in-a-dogsuit, Frida, as a way for her and her doggy friends to express their unique and special personalities. The result: Growlees collar charm collection, a range of over 100 playful charms in 10 colours designed to be worn by both dog and dog-parents alike.
We all know every dog is different, and every dog is the best dog.
Tell us about your Frida and how she came into your life.
Frida is the love of my life. I spent so many years pining for my own pup but couldn’t do it until I finally quit my office job which saw me travelling week-on-week.
But then, she arrived and I found it impossible to leave her. Hence Growlmama and Growlees were born.
How does your Frida fit into your general working day?
She doesn’t fit in at all. She’s the consummate dog boss: I fit in around her!!
When you’re not working where do you like to head out to with the dog?
When we lived in London, Victoria Park and Shoreditch were favourites. We loved our walks along the Regents Canal but also our city walks. Now we’re in Sydney, the harbour and beach walks are our favourites.
What essentials do you always have on you when heading out for a dog walk, and what do you carry them in?
Poop bags, sanitiser and treats. And of course a phone to snap Frida (I am the pupparazzi!). Not to mention a card so we can wrap up a coffee. We carry them all in our Growlmama tote.
What adventures do you have planned with Frida for later this year?
Last weekend I took Frida to her first off-leash surf beach adventure. We would love more of that.
