Tell us about Lovetts

Lovetts is a combined experience of 40 years of hospitality and creative experience! A place to gather for the community in amongst  the hubbub of life in the busy town.

Where did the inspiration behind the space come from?

We’d always worked in hospitality, rohit quo Vadis and Primeur and me as an aside to art college infamous gastro pub the Anchor & Hope at Waterloo. Years ago during a trip to see friends in Naples we went to Amalfi for the day and stumbled across the tiny ‘Vivaro Bar’, manned by Genaro who cooked, served up wine, cleared tables and engaged everyone from tourists, to locals, lawyers to artists.. all through the day into the small hours. It was a tiny place but everyone was welcome! And we felt like it was a special place. Years later after our move to Newlyn from London a chance conversation with our neighbour led to us taking on the site and opening our own little bar - the lady who had it before us ran a gallery and used to live on our street, word got around and a few days later she called us up and asked us if we’d like to take on the lease.

Tell us about your dog Billie

Billie holiday! Came from a wonderful man Peter who was a Cruft’s judge. Her mum, Dolly Parton, was best in show! She will be 9 this October. She is a sweet sensitive soul but also bonkers and full of energy. She loves to lounge on the cushions at Lovetts watching the world go by outside.

Where's Billie's favourite place to go for a walk?

Her favourite walk is on Newlyn beach when the tide is out, chasing pebbles and seagulls and digging in the sand.
