Golden Star Dog Biscuits
INGREDIENTS
2 CUPS OF SPELT
½ CUP OF OAT BRAN
1 Sweet Potato
1 TBS OF turmeric
1 TBSP Peanut Butter
½ CUP WATER
1 star shaped cookie cutter
METHOD
Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper.
First you will need to make the sweet potato puree. To steam the sweet potato, peel and then cut into evenly sized cubes. Put the cubes in a steamer or colander set over a pan of simmering water and cook for 10 mins. Test and cook for a further 5 mins if not cooked through. Mash and leave to cool.
Combine the flour, oat bran and turmeric together in a mixing bowl
Add the mashed sweet potato and peanut butter to the flour mixture.
Start to bring the mixture together using your hands, slowly adding the water until it begins to form a dough.
The mixture needs to be a firm dough and not to wet (if the mixture is to wet then add a little more water and if it is to wet add a little more flour).
Roll the mixture out to around 1cm in thickness and begin to cut the biscuits out using a star shaped cookie cutter and placing on the prepared baking tray.
Bake in the oven for 10-15mins or until golden and firm
Transfer to a wire rack and leave to cool.
